Venk Murthy received his MD and PhD in biophysics from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine through the NIH Medical Scientist Training Program, following undergraduate and master’s degrees at MIT. He trained in radiology at the Mallinckrodt Institute and in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview, then completed cardiovascular medicine and cardiovascular imaging fellowships at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He joined the University of Michigan faculty in 2012, has served as Associate Chief of Cardiology for Translational Research and Innovation since 2021, and has directed Nuclear Cardiology since 2023.
Former trainees hold faculty positions at Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, the University of Washington, Vanderbilt, and Washington University in St. Louis.
